Fabric and safety
What fabric does Samino use?Every Samino product is made from pure muslin or fine quality cotton. No polyester. No synthetic blends. No hidden plastic in thread or trim. The fabric description is on every label — you can verify it yourself before the first wear.
What is the difference between muslin and cotton?Muslin is a loosely woven cotton fabric. Its open weave structure allows maximum air circulation close to the skin. It is exceptionally breathable, absorbs moisture quickly, and becomes softer with every wash. It is ideal for newborns and infants.
Fine quality cotton has a tighter weave. It is durable, breathable, and holds its shape through daily washing. It is suitable from birth through age 6 and works well for active toddlers who need a more structured garment.
Both fabrics are natural. Both are skin safe. The choice between them comes down to age, activity level, and personal preference.
Is Samino fabric safe for newborn skin?Yes. Pure muslin and fine quality cotton are among the most widely recommended fabrics for newborn skin. They are natural, free from synthetic content, and do not trap heat or moisture against the body. If your newborn has a diagnosed skin condition, consult your paediatrician. We are not a medical brand — we are a fabric brand, and our fabric is the safest daily wear choice we know how to make.
Is Samino suitable for children with sensitive skin or eczema? Many mothers choose Samino for children with sensitive skin because we use no synthetic content. Natural fibres do not generate the friction heat or moisture trapping that synthetic fabrics do.
We do not make medical claims. If your child has a diagnosed skin condition, speak with their doctor before making changes to their clothing. If you have a specific concern, contact us directly and we will give you the most accurate information we have.
Why does it matter what fabric my child wears in the UAE?Polyester and synthetic fabrics trap heat and moisture against the skin. In the UAE, where a child moves between 42°C outdoor heat and 20°C indoor air conditioning multiple times a day, this causes the skin to overheat, sweat without release, and react.
The marks that appear at the end of the day — behind the knees, under the arms — are often caused by the fabric, not the child's skin. Pure muslin and fine cotton breathe. They regulate temperature. They release moisture. They do what synthetic fabrics cannot.
Sizing
What sizes does Samino carry? We carry sizes for children aged 0 to 6 years. Our full size range is listed in our size guide.
How do I choose the right size?Use our size guide on the website. It includes age range, height, and weight guidance for each size. If your child is between sizes, we recommend sizing up for daily wear. Natural fabrics have a small amount of natural give, and comfort is more important than a precise fit.
My child is tall for their age — what should I do?Use height as your primary sizing reference rather than age. Our size guide lists height ranges alongside age ranges. A child who is tall for their age should be sized by height, not the age printed on the tag.
Do Samino products shrink after washing?Natural fabrics can experience minor shrinkage after the first wash. We recommend following the care instructions on the label. Washing in cool water and air-drying reduces shrinkage significantly. If you are concerned, sizing up will account for this.

The Samino Letter
What is the Samino Letter? The Samino Letter is a weekly note written by the founder. It covers fabric education, honest thoughts on raising a child in the UAE, what Samino is working on, and small observations about daily life as a mother in Dubai. It is not a promotional newsletter — it is one mother writing to another once a week.
How do I sign up?Enter your first name, last name, and email address in the signup form on our website. You will receive a confirmation email and 15 percent off your first order.
How do I unsubscribe?Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Samino Letter email. You will be removed from the list within 30 days. You can also contact us directly, and we will remove you immediately.
Fabric care
How do I wash Samino products?Follow the care instructions on the label of each product. As a general guide for pure muslin and fine-quality cotton: wash in cool water on a gentle cycle, use a mild detergent, and air dry where possible. Avoid high-heat tumble drying, as it can cause shrinkage and reduce the softness of the fabric over time.
Will the fabric stay soft after repeated washing?Pure muslin and fine-quality cotton soften with washing. Unlike synthetic fabrics that can stiffen or pill over time, natural fibres improve with use. A Samino piece washed daily should feel softer in month three than it did in month one.
Can I iron Samino products?Yes. Use a low to medium heat setting. Muslin in particular requires minimal ironing, as its natural texture means light creasing is part of its character. High heat can affect the fabric structure over time.
